Wanted: a few good writers
I’ll warn you upfront: this is kind of an odd offer. However, I think it will be a valuable offer for the right person, so it’s worth making.
Please note: I have filled all of my available positions (and then some!). If you are intensely interested anyway, I’m willing to consider other arrangements (I just can’t afford to put everyone through the Blog Mastermind training), so feel free to contact me with your idea.
Who I’m looking for
I’m looking for a person who is:
- Good at communicating through writing
- Able to stick with a commitment for three months or more
- An enthusiastic learner
- Willing to devote 5-10 hours a week to my experiment
- Not currently a blogger
This might be ideal for a student, a stay at home parent, or someone looking to get off the corporate ladder… or you may be none of the above and still perfectly suited.
What prompted this?
Let me start by saying that I’m an experiment-prone person (this is Sarah Lewis writing, by the way). I like to test theories and concepts, and the come up with further experiments based on the results. I find testimonials compelling for this reason: people who’ve tried something tell you how it worked for them (at least in ethical testimonials!).
In this case, a blog guru named Yaro Starak has launched a “learn to make money blogging” system called Blog Mastermind. This program is supposed to take a person who’s never blogged before to a point where they’re making $1000-$5000 a month from a blog. That’s a pretty big goal.
I’ve signed up for it to try it out, but I’m coming at it from the perspective of an experienced blogger. I fully expect to learn some things, but I also expect my experience to be somewhat different from a person who’s never blogged before.
I’m also at a point in my blogging business where I’d like to start sharing the writing load a bit, developing other blogs and training other bloggers to be part of my business.
As I was writing about Yaro’s program, it eventually occurred to me: the best way to review the program and develop new bloggers might be to send them through Yaro’s system. So that’s what I’m going to do.
What I have in mind
I will accept 1-5 would-be bloggers into my informal “blog internship” and you will go through the Blog Mastermind system and follow the steps. Along the way, you’ll have access both to Yaro (through the program’s forum) and to me; between the two of us, we should be able to answer any questions you have. I will pay your way through the program and also cover all expenses associated with the blog you’ll create. You can stick with this arrangement indefinitely, or leave at any time.
Let’s get specific. Here’s what you’ll get out of it:
- Top-notch blog training through the Blog Mastermind program, paid for by me as long as you want to continue with the internship
- A blog to write on, complete with setup, customization, a domain name, and a custom design (after 3 months to verify the ongoing success of the blog)
- Personal support and guidance as you learn the ropes
- Long-term benefits like writing and blogging experience
- 60% of all revenue generated by your writing
Here’s what you will put into it:
- 1-2 hours per day of writing and following the Blog Mastermind system (or 5-10 hours per week total, however you schedule it)
- Log your time so that I can take it into account for my evaluation of the Blog Mastermind’s claims
A couple of important notes:
- Because of the financial investment I’ll be making, I will own the blog and the writing you do will be considered work for hire. However, I’ll be happy for you to use the writing in your portfolio or as an example of writing you’ve done.
- Obviously I’ll expect you to put the necessary time into it, but if you follow the system and we don’t see great results, I’ll consider that a failure of the system, not you. You’ll still have the option to continue if you like, or we can shift gears and try different tactics: your call.
Interested?
Please note: I have filled all of my available positions (and then some!). If you are intensely interested anyway, I’m willing to consider other arrangements (I just can’t afford to put everyone through the Blog Mastermind training), so feel free to contact me with your idea.
You must be, at least a little, to have read this far.
If you would like to be considered for a blogging internship, send an email to sarah@bloggingexpertise.com with the subject line “Blogging internship” (clever, I know) and tell me the following:
- A little about you
- Why you’re interested in this internship
- The topic you’d like to write about (if you have one; if not, no problem, the Blog Mastermind program will help)
- How you would schedule your 5-10 hours a week
- Anything else you think will convince me
And don’t worry: I’m not a stuffy person who will be offended if you mention your family or your dreams. I really want this to be a good thing for both of us, and will help you as much as I can in the pursuit of your goals.
